You saw this and you thought: “Another article about how to be more productive” with a slight eye-roll, but yet, the slightness of the eye-roll allowed you to continue reading and say “Heck, let’s see what we got here”.

The first thing you should know:

Glad we got your attention. So, before reading into this remember one thing: You should always listen to yourself and be kind to yourself. Everyone makes mistakes and there is no such thing as ‘perfect’.

Anyone who has never made a mistake
has never tried anything new. – Albert Einstein

Building Habits

For years you’ve been developing your current state. What does this mean? Well, it took you years to cultivate your current habits – which are probably both good and bad, regardless if you are conscious about them or not. Therefore, the logical way to think is that those habits won’t go away immediately.

Starting small is one of the things you should remember when changing something, in this case, for the better. Small adjustments usually give big results and long lasting changes, but of course with time and discipline this could change your life for the better. This might seem easy when going through the article, but you should take this change as a very serious topic.

As you might assume at this point, it is not easy, not at all. As someone who gets distracted like 90% of the people worldwide, this is an honest advice. The most important thing is to be patient, observe, try over and over, and SUCCEED.

If you’re walking down the right path and you’re willing to keep walking,
eventually you’ll make progress.
– Barack Obama

Make a To Do List

This is something you’ve heard before, but believe us, it works. Just crossing things from your list gives you some boost where you want to cross everything and even make a new list. But, don’t overwhelm yourself in the beginning. The first mistake you might make is just make it complex and hard to solve.

Some things from your list might take longer time, others not so much, but you should always have in mind that you should keep balance. The lack of balance gets supported by procrastination and voila, you’re still sitting in your sofa and scrolling through social media, forgetting your spagetti on the stove, while your cat is all over your sweater, AGAIN.

So, yes, small goals for your tasks are the fist thing you should have in mind. Once you realize what can be accomplished, you will just want to continue and build up. Calculate how much time you are going to need to accomplish them and start your progress.

Have you heard about the 90/90/1 rule? Well, start your work day with 90 minutes of commitment to those tasks during the following 90 days, and this will put your priorities before the day actually starts. Robin Sharma advised this and it is actually very practical. You are not spending all of your time on one thing.

When going through your tasks, track your time, because this will help you understand your work habits and help you with being more productive. This will help you track where you spend your time most and you will better calculate and estimate your goals better. You will also get a sense of time. In which sense? You will know how much time you will need for a certain work activity.

Besides the mentioned, point out where you had problems with accomplishing your tasks. Once you notice them you may be able to get rid of them. Also, make sure the task is actually DONE. Always update, always follow-up the next steps and write things down.

More Value, Less Procrastination

Where you work and what you do in your free time impacts your productivity. Who you are friends with impacts your productivity. What you eat impacts your productivity.

It is actually very simple. Find time to just walk for the beginning, without headphones, without your phone. Just breathe and walk. Focusing only on that will make you more conscious about yourself.

This is not about you being in shape or losing weight. Exercise will help you be more productive because it increases your blood flow and impacts your cardiovascular health. This helps with anxiety and helps you focus more. Stress is yet another problem, but with exercise, you can reduce the level of stress and improve your ways of dealing with it.

The world breaks everyone, and afterward, some are strong at the broken places.
Ernest Hemingway

If you are having similar tasks that need to be resolved group them together. For example, don’t respond to just one email, respond to all of them.

If you find yourself procrastinating, mentally slap yourself out of it. There is no time to be waisted. You are not getting any younger. Just go for it! Get control over your life.

PDD – Patience, dedication, and discipline. This is the formula. Make sure you are exposed to natural light because dim lights or no lights at all impacts on your unwillingness to work and makes you sleepy or makes you feel fatigued.

Also, if you don’t ask for help – bad news – you won’t get any. Don’t get into the prideful persona. You may save a lot of time by asking someone to help you out with some tools or information you may need in order to accomplish something.

Focus on one thing at a time, stop multitasking because you’ll only go to the surface and try to block yourself from distractions. You may wonder how some people multitask, because that is possible. Well, focus one thing at a time until the point you are certain you can do it ‘with your eyes closed’ and you may do two of those things at the same time.

As an actor, you can’t think about the end result or the fame; you just have to focus on the day you’re in. You have no control over the finished product, what people will think of it, so all you have is the experience of making it, and you have to stay focused on that.
Orlando Bloom

Therefore let’s end this with yet another inspiring quote:

All things will be produced in superior quantity and quality, and with greater ease, when each man works at a single occupation, in accordance with his natural gifts, and at the right moment, without meddling with anything else. Plato
